Integrated Common Entrance Test- ICET is conducted by Andhra State Government for Admission into M.B.A. and M.C.A. courses of all Universities in Andhra Pradesh and their affiliated colleges.

ICET 2013 Eligibility Criteria:-

ICET MBA Eligibility:-

The candidate seeking admission into MBA course should have passed a Bachelor’s Degree Examination of not less than three years duration from any recognized University or equivalent thereof besides passing SSC or equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

The candidates should be Indian nationals and for the foreign nationals, they should meet the requirements as per the Government rules to take the exam.

ICET MCA Eligibility:-

The candidate seeking admission into MCA course should have passed a Bachelor’s Degree Examination of not less than three years duration in any discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 level (or) should have passed Bachelor’s Degree Examination of not less than 3 years duration in any discipline with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

The candidates should be Indian nationals and for the foreign nationals, they should meet the requirements as per the Government rules to take the exam.

ICET 2013 Pattern:-

The ICET is a multiple choice objective type test with 200 questions. It is divided into three sections and the students should cover the paper with in 150 minutes. The areas of the question are

Analytical Ability: 75 questions

Mathematical Ability: 75 questions

Communication Ability: 50 questions

ICET 2013 Syllabus:-

Section-A: Analytical Ability: 75Q(75M)

1. Data Sufficiency: 20Q(20 marks)

A question is given followed by data I the form of two statements labelled as I and II. If the data given in I alone is sufficient to answer the question then choice(1) is The correct answer. If both , I and II put together are sufficient to answer the questions but neither statement alone is sufficient then choice(3) is the correct answer. If both I and II put together are not sufficient to answer the question and additional data is needed then choice(4) is correct answer.

2. Problem solving 55Q(55M)

a) Sequences and series 25Q(25marks)

Analogies of numbers and alphabets, completion of blank spaces following the pattern in a:b:c:d relationship; odd thing out; missing number in a sequence or a series.

b) Data Analysis 10Q(10M)

The data given in a table. Graphs Bar diagram, pie Chart, Venn Diagram or a passage is to be analysed and the questions pertaining to the data are to be answered.

c) Coding and Decoding problems: 10Q(10M)

A code pattern of English Alphabets is given, A given word or a group of letters are to be coded or decoded based on the given code or codes.

d) Date, Time & Arrangement problems: 10Q(10M)

Calendar problems, clock problems, blood relationships, arrivals, departures and Schedules ; seating arrangements, symbols and notation interpretation.

Section-B Mathematical Ability: 75Q(75M)

I. Arithmetic Ability: 35Q(35M)

Laws of indices, ratio and proportion; surds; numbers and divisibility, I.e.m, and g.c.d; Rational number; ordering; Percentages; profit and loss; partnerships, pipes and cisterms, time, distance and work problems; areas and volumes, mensuration, modular arithmetic.

II. Algebrical and Geometrical ability: 30Q(30M)

Statements, truth tables, implication, converse and inverse, tautologies-sets, relations and functions; polynomials; remainders theorem and consequences; linear

Equations and inequations; modulus; quadric equations and expression; progressions; progressions; binomial theorem , matrices notion of a limit and derivative.

Plane geometry-lines, triangles, Quadrilaterals, Circles,coordiate geometry-distance between points and applications. Equation of a line in different forms.

Trigonometry- Trigonometric ratios of standard angles(0,30,45,60,90,180 degrees); Trigonometry identities; simple problems on heights and distances.

III. Statistical Ability:

Frequency distribution, mean , median, mode, standard deviation, correlation, simple problems probability.

Section C - Communication Ability: 50Q(50M)

Objective of the Test

Candidates will be assessed on their ability to

1. Identify vocabulary used in the day-today communication.

2. Understand the functional use of grammar in day to day communication as well in the business contexts.

3.Identify the basic terminology and concepts in computer and business context(letters, reports,memoranda,agenda, minutes etc).

4. Understand written text and draw inferences

Part 2. Business and computer terminology 10Q(10M)

Part 3. Functional Grammar 15Q(15M)

Part 4. Reading Comprehension(3 Passages) (15M)

ICET Preparation Tips / Techniques / Tricks:-

Analytical Ability:- This section contains the statement based question in which the candidate has to notice the correct statement among the given statements. For this purpose the candidate must have proper idea on mathematics and keen observation. The student must have command on the topics like Series, Coding and Odd Man out.  Common sense plays a vital role than knowledge on the topic in this section.

Mathematical Ability:- In order to have command in this section, the student must have to go through with the mathematics books from 6th standard to 10th standard.  The student must have full command and idea on the primary topics.  For probability and inequalities, the student must have to read the intermediate books.  It will be useful if the student gains command on the topics like calculating the percentages, calculating the profit and losses, Geometry, Mensuration and simple equations.

Communication Ability:- In order to face the communication ability section, the candidate must have command on English grammar and capacity to read English quickly.  There will be at least 5 to 7 meanings   and 5 questions from synonyms.  In order to get good score in this section, the student have to go through the grammar books from 6th standard especially the parts of speech.  In the reading comprehension there will be a passage of 200 words, where the student has to answer the questions that are asked.

Time Management:- Time management is another important issue that is to be remembered by the ICET students.  Depending on the waitage of marks, time is to be allotted for the respective subject.  For section A and Section B, 75 marks are allotted.  For this the student have to spend at least 3 hours a day and two hours for section C which consists of 50 marks.  Besides preparation, the student has to solve the model question papers daily.
