About the University
|
|
IIT Kanpur was established in 1959. by the Government of India. The institute was passed Institutes of Technology Act 1961. IIT-Kanpur offers B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Sc , MBA & M.Des programes in different streams. IIT Kanpur has about 1450 undergraduate and 850 postgraduate students, 300 faculty, and more than 1500 supporting staff. It has one of the finest scientific & technological library with an online information retrieval system over the campus LAN.
IIT Kanpur is located on GT Road at Kalyanpur, about 16 km west of Kanpur city, on 1055 acres of land offered by the Government of UP. It is a residential campus offering accomodation to about 350 faculty members, about 700 support staff members, and about 4000 students. The campus has all the amenities for developing the personal, social and academic skills of the community.
