University of Mumbai

The University of Mumbai is one of first three, oldest and leading universities of India; it was first established in 1857 and was known as “University of Bombay”. It was later changed to University of Mumbai or Mumbai University on 4 September, 1996 in accordance with Mumbai gazette. The Mumbai University is located in Maharashtra state in the city of dreams and glamour Mumbai and is accredited with a five start ranking by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).  The Mumbai University has educational jurisdiction across the districts of Ratnagiri, Raigad, Sindhudurg and Thane.
Mumbai University has several campuses two of them in Mumbai city namely the Fort campus and the Kalina campus and apart from this it has Ratnagiri campus. The Fort campus has administrative division and Kalina campus has post graduate and research training facilities. Ratnagiri campus is small offering mostly additional and extracurricular courses. The student applicants who want to apply for various courses in Mumbai University will have to fill online application form as per the requirement. Before filling the application form refer to prospectus and how to fill application forms. After filling all the mandatory columns take a print out of application form, examination form and the ID card. The student applicants must then submit the application forms supported by all necessary documents to the institutions. One thing has to be kept in mind that students can fill only one application form to apply for one or two streams of their choice, if you have applied for two streams then you can opt for a mixed preferential order of colleges of your choice, students can apply to minimum one or two streams of arts , science, and commerce in general. Mumbai University has an established and valued ‘Institute Of Distance Education “that offers wide range of correspondence courses at graduate and postgraduate level. The Mumbai University distance education is popularly known as IDE and offers courses in arts, education and languages, computer applications and math. It has also started correspondence courses in the fields of information technology, computer science, and nautical technology. There are many more courses waiting to be started in due course of time.
